7th January

After a smooth journey, we arrived safely at Liddington at 3.30pm. The children have had time to settle into their rooms, had a tour of the building, eaten a slap-up dinner and experienced their first evening of entertainment. This involved a variety of team games; gargle the tune, under and over, mummifying a team mate and a paper aeroplane making challenge. The children have now settled down for the evening and the teachers are hoping for a quiet night in preparation for a packed day of activities tomorrow. We are all looking forward to a cooked (or continental) breakfast and hoping the weather stays dry! More updates tomorrow.

Good morning! Due to overnight snow, and the forecast of more snow during the day, we have taken the decision to remain closed today in line with other schools in the local area. We apologise for any inconvenience caused, and we’ll keep you informed of any later developments.

11th March

Our school swimming teams achieved fantastic results at the Hampshire round of English Primary Schools Championships held at The Quays in Southampton on Friday 8th March. In an awesome display of team relay swimming in the 4x25m freestyle, our girls’ team took first place to be crowned Hampshire champions and then they went on to take second place in the Medley relay. Our boys’ team were also medal winners by easily taking bronze in their freestyle relay event but so narrowly missed a medal by four tenths of a second in the medley relay! Congratulations too to our second girls’ teams who were placed fourth in the medley and fifth in the freestyle, beating many other schools’ first teams. What a haul of achievement by our superb teams and great recognition of all the hard work that they put in during the early morning squad training sessions at school. They were a credit to Bishop’s Waltham!

9th July

On Sunday the 30th of June fourteen members of wacky science car club went to Goodwood motor circuit to race two green goblins. Every one enjoyed the day and Mrs Hope and Mrs Peach were very proud of the team work we all showed. Our two kit cars were called: Field Flash (the red car) and Night Rider (the black Car). Two amazing coaches helped each car; they were Mrs Hope, Mrs Peach, Mr Wood and one parent called Mr Ridgett who kindly helped out as well. The day was very successful and we all did an amazing job. Unfortunately neither car was awarded with an award. We hope next year a trophy will be awarded to us. Thank you every one who helped to make a successful day.

Last night, the children of Bishop’s Waltham Junior School’s choir and drama club performed their final run-through of Scheherezade, their Christmas production for the year. After many weeks of hard work, the evening performances were a triumph, with the final performance being especially good. The children involved should all feel very proud of themselves!
