At Bishop’s Waltham Junior School the health, safety and well-being of every child is our top priority.

Welcome to Year 5

2026-27

Welcome to Year 5 at Bishop's Waltham Junior School.

Year 5 is an exciting and important stage in your child's junior school journey. As the children move into the upper part of the school, they are encouraged to develop greater independence, resilience and responsibility, both in their learning and in their wider contribution to school life. We continue to build upon the strong foundations established in Years 3 and 4 whilst preparing pupils for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in Year 6.

Throughout the year, children will engage with a rich and varied curriculum designed to challenge, inspire and motivate them. They will be encouraged to think critically, work collaboratively and develop the confidence to take risks in their learning. Alongside academic progress, we place great importance on supporting pupils' personal development, helping them to grow into confident, respectful and responsible young people.

The Year 5 teaching team consists of Mrs Glasspool and Ms Humphries (Sycamore Class) and Miss Pascoe (Tamarind Class)

We are also fortunate to be supported by our dedicated Teaching Assistants, Mrs Kirby, Mrs Hutchinson and Mrs Clothier - who work closely with children across the year group, providing encouragement and support to ensure that every child can achieve their full potential.

We look forward to working in partnership with you and your child throughout the year and to celebrating their many achievements, successes and memorable experiences along the way.
