Supporting Wellbeing at BWJS
Mental wellbeing describes your mental state - how you are feeling and how well you can cope with day-to-day life. At Bishop’s Waltham Junior School, we believe that supporting
wellbeing is paramount to help children thrive at school, not only academically but also socially.
Our mental wellbeing is dynamic. It can change from moment to moment, day to day, month to month or year to year. This is true for adults and children alike.
If children have good mental wellbeing, they are able to:
- feel relatively confident and have positive self-esteem
- feel and express a range of emotions
- build and maintain good relationships with others
- feel engaged with the world around them
- live and work productively
- cope with the stresses of daily life
- adapt and manage in times of change and uncertainty

Children are all different and what affects one child’s wellbeing may not affect another. Every child deserves to feel good and there are steps that can be taken to maintain positive wellbeing – physically and mentally.
At BWJS, we recognise the importance of working together to help support your child’s wellbeing and mental health. As a tool for parents, we have put together a list of useful websites which you may like to use to help gain a better understanding of what wellbeing is and how to help support your child’s wellbeing and mental health throughout different stages of their lives.
