At Bishop’s Waltham Junior School the health, safety and well-being of every child is our top priority.
If you have been involved in Bishop's Waltham Junior School (Formerly known as Ridgemede School) during it's history and you feel able to contribute memories of your own, I would be delighted to hear from you. I would also love to borrow any photographs, press cuttings or other documents that may exist which give insight into Ridgemede's past. All such items could be scanned and returned in their original condition. If you feel you may be able to contribute to this section of our website, I would love to hear from you at this e-mail address. You may wish to use this form. I am especially looking for items from the 1970s and the 1980s.
I would like to thank the people who have supplied me so far with photographs, newspaper cuttings and personal memories. In particular, I would like to thank David Porter for keeping such a thorough history of Ridgemede School throughout his time as Head Teacher, and for allowing me to quote so extensively from his own written records.
Finally, I would like to make a pre-emptive apology for any inaccuracies that are contained within the pages below. Even the most thorough school records cannot tell of everything that happens in the life of a school, and records are lost over time, so my access to them has been naturally restricted. Certain key events may be missing from this history, and staffing dates may not be fully correct - especially amongst staff who were not teachers. If you become aware of any mistakes throughout this timeline, I would be delighted to hear of them, and will endeavour to correct all that I can - please let me know!
