School Lunches - New Catering Provider  

We’re pleased to announce that from September 2025, our school will be working with Aspens, a trusted and experienced school catering company. Aspens

currently serves hundreds of schools across the UK and is renowned for providing tasty, nutritious, and diverse meal options that children enjoy.

From September, the cost of a school lunch will be £2.90 per day.

Aspens’ ‘World Menu’ offers a wide variety of meals inspired by global cuisines.

Introducing SwiftKitchen

To make ordering and paying for school meals easier, we’ll also be launching SwiftKitchen – Aspens’ simple and convenient online system. More information and guidance on how to use SwiftKitchen will be shared with families soon.


Medical Special Diets and Allergy Menus

Does your child need a medical special diet to eat lunch at school?

Aspens is fully committed to supporting children with medical or lifestyle dietary needs. If your child has any core allergy or dietary requirements, please complete the [Medical Diet Referral Form – Download Here] and return it to the junior school.

Core Allergen-Free Menus Available:

  • NGCI (No Gluten-Containing Ingredients)
  • NGCI & Milk Free
  • Milk Free
  • Egg Free
  • Allergen Free
  • Vegan and Halal menus (available on request)

These menus are managed in line with Aspens’ Allergy Policy. In some cases, a menu consultation with the catering team may be required.

For medical diet requests, please return the completed form along with a referral letter or supporting documentation from a GP, consultant, or dietician. This information will be reviewed by Aspens’ Operations Manager, who may arrange a meeting with you and consult with the company’s Nutritionist to create a suitable menu for your child.

Free school Meals

Some families may be entitled to Free School Meals (FSM) for their child. It’s quick and easy to check if you’re eligible, and applying could make a big difference – not just by providing a free school lunch every day, but also by unlocking additional funding (Pupil Premium) to support your child’s education.

Eligibility Criteria
Your child may be able to receive Free School Meals if you receive any of the following:

-       Income Support

-       Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance

-       Income-related Employment and Support Allowance

-       Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

-       The guaranteed element of Pension Credit

-       Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)

-       Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)

-       Universal Credit – if you apply on or after 1 April 2018, your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits)

 

Please note: A pupil is only eligible to receive Free School Meals once a claim has been made and eligibility has been verified by the school or the local authority.

Even if your child doesn’t want to take the free meal, we still encourage you to apply if you’re eligible. The school will receive additional funding through the Pupil Premium, which can be used to support your child in a number of ways, including:

  • Subsidising school trips and clubs
  • Providing additional academic support
  • Contributing towards music tuition or other enrichment opportunities
