School History - 2012

2nd March

The FOBS committee has kindly agreed to contribute a whopping Â£5000 towards an exciting ICT development at BWJS.  The school has purchased 32 SAMSUNG NETBOOKS – allowing the children to use ICT within the classrooms to support many areas of the curriculum.  Also, this weekend, the school will have WIFI installed so the netbooks can be used across the school without the need for trails of wires.

The contribution of £5000 would not have been possible without the endless effort that FOBS put into organizing numerous events for the school.  May I also take this opportunity to thank the parents/pupils/community members for supporting these events, as without this, NO money would be raised. All money generated by FOBS is always spent on improving provision for the children at BWJS.

FOBS have also agreed to contribute £500 towards the purchase of another KIT CAR – which will be built by the pupils (alongside Mrs Peach / Mrs Hope) and raced at the Goodwood Festival in July.

Mrs Channon retires this summer after over 20 years of work in the school office. She has played a very important role in school over this time, and she deserves a well-earned rest now.

Mrs McLay has also worked at the school for over 20 years as a teaching assistant, most recently in Year Six. She has also worked with tireless dedication, and she will be well missed!

Yesterday saw the dress rehearsal of Peace Child as the cast and chorus performed for the rest of the school, Year 1 and 2 from the Infant School, and a small number of guests. Evening performances will take place tonight and tomorrow, and tickets are still available from the school office.
